Teacher Training

Teachers can’t keep anything that they’ve learned to themselves. It is in their very nature to teach what they know. As I have become a student of Teaching with Comprehensible Input (TPRS being one of the methods that I use), I have also become a teacher of Teaching with Comprehensible Input and TPRS. When you know something incredible, you can’t help but share it!

Here are some resources that I have created for teachers interested in honing their skills in TPRS and other CI methodologies:

Curriculum Map: View the lesson plans that I use in Spanish 1 and 2

Demos: See some demos and read explanations of basic techniques

How to use my story scripts: Read about the process I go through when I introduce vocab for a story

How to ask a story: Read about how to actually ask the story using one of my scripts

MovieTalk: Learn about this awesome method, developed by Dr. Ashley Hastings and championed by Michele Whaley, and view a demo

Circling template: Use this form to practice the circling strategy

Lesson planning: View the PDF from my presentation on developing storytelling units that contain a cultural focus

Authentic resources: View the handout from my presentation on making authentic resources comprehensible for novices

Comprehension Checks: How to check for comprehension in TPRS®/CI classes.

  1. I just stumbled across your handout on authentic resources; what an incredible, concise cheat sheet!!! I am impressed by the way that you manage to communicate so much in such a small graphic.

  2. I just returned from taking my high school students to Mexico yesterday and found this awesome opportunity in my inbox. Just wondering if you have room for one more. I would love to attend.
